Jeff began his journey in photography in the late seventies while in the Marine Corps when he purchased a 35mm film camera while in Okinawa Japan. After his service he studied photography as he earned a bachelor degree in Graphic Arts Management at the University of Wisconsin Stout. His career was in the catalog and magazine printing industry and he continued with photography as a passionate hobby over the years. Having a darkroom at his home during the early years in his photography journey taught valuable lessons on the complete process of photography from beginning to end, including the importance of patience in photography.
Many of his images have been published in various travel guides, magazines, calendars and most recently, Loon Lessons, a hard cover book by James D. Paruk, now available on Amazon. A few of his main influences are Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Ansel Adams for his ability to capture a wide tonal range with the use of the zone system and darkroom techniques, and Henri Cartier-Bresson for his ability to capture the decisive moment.
Jeff and his wife Wendy, also an artist, currently live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Their work is available for purchase at Tangled up in Hue in downtown Eau Claire and he may also be contacted through his web site.
