I grew up in the Lake Country of Minnesota and was surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. As a child I drew, photographed and studied the form, texture and hue of color in all the nature around me. I have carried this artistic curiosity with me though out my life and explored and engaged in numerous expressive art forms. The rich cool color pallet of nature is still reflected though out my works of art.
In 1992 our family took a transfer with my husband employer to the southeastern area of the U.S. This move gave me the opportunity to meet artists and immerse myself in the art style and form of another area of our country. It proved to be a wonderful cultural exploration of potters, jewelers, blacksmiths, weavers, carvers, painters, and stain glass artists and all of their individual art technique.
In 2008 I joined a small group instruction in painting with oils on canvas with Ann Foster at her Brushstrokes Studio in historic downtown Northport Alabama. A lifetime passion with photography gave me a rich source of subject matter to study with brushes and oils. I continued to study and paint with the brushstrokes studio weekly until 2011 when we retired and left the southeast. At that time our family moved back to Wisconsin where I am continuing to create my impression of the world around me in oil paintings.
