I grew up on a dairy farm along the Black River in Taylor County, where the woodland, fields, and river bottom were my childhood playground. My love and appreciation for family and the beauty of nature began there, and are reflected in my work.
I received a BA degree in Art Education from UW Eau Claire, and have taken many art workshops including those at the Indianhead Art Center and the Rhinelander School of the Arts. These workshops and my career as an Art Teacher gave me the opportunity to explore and work in countless varieties of art mediums over the years. I have found that all are very exciting and help stretch my creativity and passion for art.
Creating art makes me feel good; I feel in touch with my soul, I feel a spiritual connection and appreciation for the world around me. Being a teacher has given me the opportunity to share these experiences and help others to grow creatively.
I love the spontaneity of watercolors and playing with the brilliant hues and values of colors found in flowers and nature. Many of the subjects in my works are from my own garden, or family experiences. I also enjoy incorporating collage, textures and mix media into my art.
My husband Jerry and I have three grown children and eight grandchildren. Spending time with my family, gardening, set designing for play productions and working with art in any form, are some of my favorite things.
