Being immersed in the creative process has always brought me joy, whether I am the creator, learner, teacher, or experiencer.
Today, I work primarily in mosaic art, although I am always playing with new media and methods. As a child and continuing into my adulthood the urge to create has been great, nurtured by my grandmother and other generous women along the way. I have dabbled in embroidery, crocheting, candle making, woven potholders, handmade greeting cards, needlepoint, cross stitch, jewelry, quilting, writing, mixed media, furniture painting. What I make and when I make it depends upon the time of year, what is happening in my life, and what is currently inspiring me.
My work generally incorporates lots of color, joy, and playfulness. I am increasingly incorporating varied textures in everything I do. On occasion, I let go to raw emotion, and this results in powerful, healing work. In addition to decorative wall and shelf art, I have created mosaics on furniture, bathroom vanities, and architectural artifacts.
Because I want to share my love of mosaics with others, I teach mosaic classes to adults and children in the Chippewa Valley. I am also a end-of-life ordeath doula and carry my creative energy into all my interactions. And I continue to consult on technology and operations for nonprofit organizations and international associations, drawing upon a 25+ year career in the field of nonprofit management.
