Possibly winning an art contest in grade school inspired my interest in art, along with many colorful creative family members who are artists. Capturing a likeness in portrait painting has always brought me the most satisfaction and frustration. I am fascinated with faces. It is difficult to settle on subject matter because almost everything around me is recognition worthy. There is always something new to explore and experiment with such as gourds. God Bless Creation!
I had the good fortune of being a student of Chippewa Falls master artist, Hugh Mandelert. His lessons were invaluable and there are a handful of his students who continue to meet in the basement of his former home. We support each other and quote Hugh throughout our class time together.
I am also very grateful for the Valley Art Gallery and my fellow artist friends
