Inspired by nature and a desire to reuse/up cycle items, I have developed a style unique to me. I love using a variety of materials as well as creating both 2 and 3D objects of art. Experimenting with new media and techniques, I have created jewelry, dolls/sculpture, fiber art and collage.
For 33 years, I taught middle-school art. Once retired, I immersed myself in watercolor, mixed media and the use of natural fibers, taking classes and workshops from Washington Island to Bayfield, Grand Maris, Cornucopia and Oshkosh, making my way to the Twin Cities, picking up bits and pieces from a many artists. Mother Nature is my muse; she inspires me to reuse and incorporate gifts of nature to create new art. In the future, I would like to do more collage maybe incorporating it into shadow boxes using Grimm Fairytales as inspiration.
I consider my art outsider folk art because I use materials in unconventional ways. A piece of painted yupo becomes a native basket adorned with painted dominos, feathers, and driftwood. Why this might illustrate an extreme mental state, I enjoy delving into elaborate fantasy worlds.
